عوض تاج الدين: إعلان خلو مصر من التراكوما إنجاز جديد يُضاف لمسيرة النجاحات الصحية

The Egyptian government’s efforts to improve public health have yielded significant results, with the World Health Organization (WHO) recently declaring Egypt free from trachoma. Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of Egypt for Health and Prevention, attributed this achievement to the country’s comprehensive healthcare initiatives.
According to Dr. Tag El-Din, Egypt has made substantial progress in eliminating various infectious and endemic diseases, including measles, whooping cough, malaria, and polio. The country’s healthcare system has also made significant strides in combating Hepatitis C, a major public health challenge in the past.
Significant Healthcare Achievements
Egypt’s healthcare achievements are a result of the government’s commitment to improving the overall well-being of its citizens. The country’s healthcare initiatives have been supported by the political leadership, with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi providing significant backing for healthcare reform.
Dr. Tag El-Din highlighted the importance of healthcare and education as fundamental pillars of the state’s vision. He emphasized that a healthy population is essential for economic growth and development, as individuals cannot learn or contribute to society without good health.
Key Initiatives and Achievements in Disease Prevention
The Egyptian government has launched several initiatives aimed at improving public health, including a program to detect vision and hearing problems in schoolchildren. This initiative has contributed to improved academic performance among students. Additionally, the government has implemented screening programs for various types of cancer, such as breast, liver, kidney, and uterine cancer, which have helped prevent serious health issues by addressing underlying causes like smoking.
A new initiative, “Egypt Without Tobacco,” has been launched to reduce the risks associated with heart disease, lung disease, and cancer. Dr. Tag El-Din emphasized that early detection of tumors significantly improves treatment outcomes and reduces the economic burden on the state and families.
Impact of the “100 Million Health” Initiative
The “100 Million Health” initiative has achieved three primary objectives: early detection of unknown diseases, improving citizens’ health performance, and providing a comprehensive treatment and follow-up system. This initiative has also helped create a comprehensive health map for citizens and raised awareness among Egyptian families about the importance of regular check-ups and continuous monitoring.
Dr. Tag El-Din noted that early detection of hypertension and diabetes can prevent advanced kidney disease, representing a crucial step towards a healthier society with longer and better-quality lives for Egyptian citizens.
As Egypt continues to build on its healthcare achievements, the next steps will likely involve consolidating these gains and addressing emerging health challenges. The government’s commitment to improving public health is expected to remain a priority, with ongoing initiatives and new programs aimed at promoting the well-being of Egyptian citizens.
